IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SALTRD
From April 14-15, 2010, MISFI visited its 3 project areas in Davao del Norte namely, (1) Sitio Lower Camansa, (2) Sitio Lunono and (3) Sitio Tinago. MISFI’s monitoring visit was in partnership with another NGO team from the Science and Alternative Technology in Rural Development (SALTRD). While MISFI’S concern is with its community education program, SALTRD’s concern is with the area’s sustainable agricultural practices and the monitoring of animals dispersed and infrastructures.
In Sitio Lower Camansa, MISFI monitored its pre-school program and made preparations for the incoming school opening this June. MISFI also facilitated the community’s regular assessment of its People’s Organization and updated the community profile. Meanwhile, SALTRD monitored the operation of its rice/corn mill that MISFI donated 2 years earlier. It also inspected the water system in the area. Then in Sitios Lunono and Tinago, the MISFI team inspected its Wellness Center and facilitated the meeting and assessment of the People’s Organization while the team from SALTRD inspected the water system and the animals dispersed in the area.
The 7-person monitoring team that went to the project areas is composed of Pastor Leve Laurente, Milagros Tan, Humeira Morales, Grison Guinocor, Eduardo Rosauro, and MSU students-interns Geraldine Samporna and Honey Marie Tulin.
