(Davao City) MISFI facilitated the visit of Anselmo Castelli, founder and president of the Italian Humanitarian group Senza Frontiere (Without Borders) and Don Giuseppe Bergamaschi, parish priest of Castel Goffredo, Montova, Italy in the areas of Sitio Dulyan, Barangay Palma Gil, Talaingod, Davao del Norte and Arakan, North Cotabato last August 11-12, 2011.
Mr. Castelli and Don Bergamaschi visited Mindanao as they are very interested in supporting the community education and sustainable agriculture programs of MISFI. They are also particularly interested in putting up a scholarship program up to the college level for deserving Lumad (indigenous) children in the said areas.
The visit was facilitated by Fr. Fausto Tentorio, treasurer of MISFI Board of Directors and parish priest of Arakan, North Cotabato, Ms. Percinita Sanchez, MISFI Executive Director, Mr. Danilo Gumanao, MISFI Deputy Executive Director, with other officers and teachers of Mindanao CREED (Center for Rural Education and Environment Development in Mindanao), a newly formed group of institutions that focus primarily on community education in the rural areas.
