The Mindanao Interfaith Services Foundation, Inc. (MISFI) conducted a series of financial management training for local partners of CARE NETHERLANDS, composed of key officers of the local government units (LGUs) and community organizations.
The first training was held last September 9-10 at Haven’s Peak Resort in the municipality of Maragusan, Compostela Valley Province with 32 participants while the second training was held last September 12-13, 2011 at Luciana Inn, Butuan City, Agusan del Norte with 20 participants.
Mr. Danilo Gumanao, MISFI Deputy Executive Director and Mr. Donald Ray Cornelio, MISFI Communications Development Officer and Finance Officer were the main resource persons of the training. The series of training was conducted as part of the capability building enhancement of the officers of the various organizations that are the direct implementers of the European Union funded project entitled “Making safe food available and accessible to rural poor households in the Philippines.”
CARE Netherlands is the over-all implementer of the said EU funded project with Agri-Aqua Development Coalition Mindanao (AADC) and Corporate Network for Disaster Response (CNDR) as secondary implementers and five municipalities as LGU partners of the project namely: (1) Maragusan, Compostela Valley, (2) Calabanga, Camarines Sur, (3) Dingalan, Aurora, (4) St. Bernard, Southern Leyte, and (5) Jabonga, Agusan del Norte.
Within the aforementioned municipalities are the different organizations affiliated with AADC and CNDR that directly implement the project through the formation of clusters. The clusters are formed as to focus on specific food production such as tilapia production, livestock production, vegetable production, etc. The participants of the training are key officers coming from these clusters.
